There is nothing more terrifying than the feeling of leaving your future and dreams in someone else’s hands. Thats why as a believer I struggle with the reality that sometimes God will take our plans and completely change them. But even though my struggle with this is real, I am able to have peace knowing that he has promised to always be with me through anything and everything.
I can be sure that if he changes my plans it will be for my own good and growth.
Joshua is a great example of this promise.
Joshua 1:9 says:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua was commanded to lead a nation. Meditate on that for a second. Can you imagine how intimidating that must have been? Here we are sometimes complaining at how hard it is to trust God with a decision as trivial as what school to go to (not saying it’s not a big deal, but I mean nothing compared to leading a nation) but Joshua rested on the knowledge that he had a God bigger than everything watching over him and guiding his steps.
What would having courage like Joshua look like to you?
For some it might be moving out by yourself, but for others it can mean taking that AWSOME but intimidating job or even speaking in front of a large audience. Courage can have a thousand different faces but one thing is certain … We must have engraved in our hearts the promise that he made to us in Joshua 1:9 that he will be with us wherever we go and we can rest assured he will do this every single day of our lives … Not Just Sunday.
